Community Insect Management Category 7D Practice Test

Culex tarsalis is the correct choice because it is not primarily associated with the transmission of yellow fever. Yellow fever is predominantly spread by Aedes mosquitoes, specifically Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus, which are well-known vectors of the virus responsible for this disease. Culex tarsalis, on the other hand, is more commonly associated with other diseases, such as West Nile virus and St. Louis encephalitis.

Understanding the specific vectors responsible for transmitting diseases is crucial in public health and vector control efforts. By focusing on the species that are known to transmit yellow fever, such as Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus, control measures can be effectively targeted where they are most needed. This highlights the importance of identifying the species involved in disease transmission in order to mitigate risks and implement appropriate preventive strategies.
